What is my purpose?I want to support teachers and parents in helping their beginning and struggling readers. Grade one and two students are at the beginning stages of reading. They are learning to link sounds together when reading words and printing these new sounds in their independent writing. Often students in grade three and four still need consistent review of the more challenging sounds in order to increase their reading level and ability to print with greater accuracy.
I offer resources and strategies that aim to increase knowledge of letter blends. This helps students to sound out their words with greater accuracy, fluency, and confidence. I want to help young learners find joy in reading and stay engaged through learning games. I love reading the current research and make sure that my resources aline with the best practices and knowledge of how our brains learn to read. |

Teachers and parents deserve targeted strategies and ideas that are proven to work with today’s kids. You need realistic and practical ideas that deliver real results. My resources are tried and tested in the classroom and in the home. They are quick to implement so you are not spending hours planning. The goal of each resource is to offer opportunities for students of different abilities to engage in the same activity. While some will use the colour-coding strategies to recognize and become familiar with individual blends, others will use the colour-coding strategies to sound out individual words or read sentences with greater confidence and fluency. My resources are made in colour. The colour helps students maintain their attention and the act of colour-coding the blends keeps them engaged and involved in their learning.
Although my resources are available to order on-line, please know that there is always a voice behind this site. I am always available to hear your comments and questions. I am only an email away.
